Peiyu Wang Clinical Oncology Society of Australia Annual Scientific Meeting 2021

Peiyu Wang

Peiyu Wang is an early career translational researcher, and her main research direction is the application of cold atmosphere plasma (CAP) in the field of biomedicine. CAP is the fourth state of matter. It has been found to have outstanding effects in anti-virus, anti-bacteria, cancer treatment and wound healing. Based on biochemistry and cell biology, she has studied its potential molecular mechanisms and optimised the treatment strategy towards clinical application. She had published some papers on the combined treatment of CAP and nanoparticles. During the COVID-19 epidemic, her project was supported by the Australian government and found that plasma-pretreated host cells showed reduced entry of viral-like nanoparticles and genuine ACE-2 virus. Currently, her project is on impact of CAP on the immune system in relation to cancer treatment. She is the winner of a QUT Postgraduate Research Award (QUTPRA). She expects that the application of plasma can pave a new avenue for solving medical problems.
