It is clear in the literature that the routine use of patient reported outcomes in clinical care lead to better outcomes in people with cancer. Over recent years, the cancer care community has shifted its focus from establishing efficacy to implementation efforts. While many realise that they have to ‘jump onto the bandwagon’, successful implementation requires careful planning, robust strategies, and additional considerations around health equity and longer term sustainability. Learning from the early experience of the Princess Alexandra Hospital (Queensland), the activities and costs associated with “PROMISE” implementation efforts will be discussed.
